The use of renewable energy sources for heating and cooling purposes contributes significantly to reducing the need for fossil fuels, which in turn leads to a significant reduction in CO2 emissions in the building sector. By 2045, all existing buildings are to be climate neutral, and from 1 January 2024, new buildings must meet at least 65% of their heating needs from renewable energy. • Air-to-water heat pumps Use the thermal energy from the ambient air to heat or cool buildings.
• Brine-water heat pumps Use the constant temperature below the earth's surface to generate heat. This option is particularly sustainable and efficient and also enables free cooling in summer.
• Water-to-water heat pumps: Extract thermal energy from water sources such as lakes or groundwater. Ideal for heating and cooling purposes.
